On Friday 26th January it is our Wear Something Tartan Day. We are encouraging children to come to school with something tartan whether it be a hair bobble or kilt (the choice is yours). If they have nothing in tartan or checked then they are just to wear normal school uniform.

AND THE AWARDS KEEP COMING: We have just officially received our sportscotland Silver School Sport Award for 2017-2018. The Silver School Sport Award is recognition of our school’s dedication to putting physical education and school sport at the heart of a school’s planning, practice and ethos. The Silver Award also highlights that South Lodge has shown improvement across the core areas of the Award and demonstrated an on-going commitment to increase young people’s opportunities and engagement in physical education, school sport and leadership and provide clear pathways to life-long participation in sport.
I would like to thank all the staff, children and parents who contribute to the sports development here at South Lodge. Well done to you all!! #SchoolSportAward Sportscotland
I am very excited to announce that South Lodge today was presented with a plaque from the CEO of Success for All UK. This is a brand new literacy scheme being introduced to South Lodge and we are the charities “flagship” school for Scotland. We are the only school in Scotland delivering this programme and we are the only 1 of 3 schools in the whole of UK to be granted “flagship” status. I hope you are as excited as all of us here at South Lodge for this very exciting chapter for the school and the children.
Its a brand new literacy scheme where for an hour and a half each day the children are taught through this scheme. The children are exposed to “real” books i,.e novels, poetry, playscripts, non fiction texts etc in a real structured and proper way. Its a scheme where reading is taught really well rather than just hearing reading groups.
We are so looking forward to seeing this new scheme in action.
The Tesco School Uniform page is now working well and parents have been happily placing their orders over the past few weeks. If you wish to order new jumpers etc please visit http://www.tesco.com/ues and type in South Lodge Primary School.
You will get points on your Club Card and the school will receive a donation for every order placed (well, Every Little Helps as they say).
The children are looking marvellous in their school colours so well done everyone for encouraging the children to wear uniform.
We are in the process of swapping our uniform provider over to Tesco. A ballot recently went out to parents and the vast majority voted for Tesco due to ease of ordering, quality and pricing (plus points on your Tesco Clubcard – well, Every Little Helps as they say).
The online team are hoping to get our online ordering page live by Wednesday and after then you should be able to place orders for the variety of clothing, plus bags, anytime after this.
Tesco have asked us to let parents know that the delivery times during this busy period of June – August could be up to 28 days but after August this should settle down to the usual 14 day turn-around.
We look forward to seeing all the children in their uniforms after the holidays.
A new online form has been launched to allow parents/carers to apply for Free School Meals and Clothing Grants through the Highland Council website.
Go on to the website www.highland.gov.uk/request where you will need to sign up to myaccount in order to complete your form. If you require a paper version, or have any queries, then please phone 01463 703645.
The press release went in the Ross-shire Journal announcing the arrival of our new Head Teacher on Friday 13th May.
